Courtyard House

Courtyard House is a modern and respectful reimagining of a 180 year old stonemason’s cottage in Paddington. Working within the DCP and in response to an existing palette rich in robust materials, textures and features, the design marries relaxed luxury and genuine permeability with the convict carved sandstone block walls and ancient hardwoods.

The luxury finishes; Calacatta marble, honed Travertine and Tadelakt limestone render are bathed in natural light from the north-facing courtyard.

Shelly Beach House

Shelly Beach House is a six bedroom, 300sqm beachside residence. Arranged around a central courtyard, the design is informed by sustainability principles with natural and artisanal finishes. The layout features a strong hierarchy of spaces that progress from an interconnected programme of open-plan common areas to increasingly introspective, private rooms. Each space is arranged around the central courtyard creating a dynamic interplay visually and physically within the house.

Overhang House

At a macro level, the brief calls for strategic extentions and additions to create more habitable space for the occupant. Externally, the pushing and pulling of the envelope seeks to respond respectfully to aesthetic, planning and heritage frameworks.

Internally, the design proposes expansion of the open plan layout at ground level while constructing a layer of identity around each of the uses that share the volume.

This is achieved by the use of space-specific material selection, geometric interventions and other subtle cues; changing light fixtures to denote thresholds between spaces...

On the ground floor, the design calls for a duality of light and dark spaces with corresponding colour, material and fixture pallettes.

To facilitate cohesion, select geometry and materials oversail their home into adjacent spaces to blur the delineation between the different programmatic uses.
